Time Delays and Frequency Shiftsof Strongly

چکیده
Accepted ABSTRACT Large light deeection angles are produced in the strong gravitational eld regions around neutron stars and black holes. In the case of binary systems, part of the photons emitted from the companion star towards the collapsed object are expected to be deeected in the direction of the earth. Based on a semi-classical approach we calculate the characteristic time delays and frequency shifts of these photons as a function of the binary orbital phase. The intensity of the strongly deeected light rays is reduced by many orders of magnitude, therefore making the observations of this phenomenon extremely diicult. Relativistic binary systems containing a radio pulsar and a collapsed object are the best available candidates for the detection of the strongly deeected photons. Based on the accurate knowledge of their orbital parameters, these systems allow to predict accurately the delays of the pulses along the highly deeected path, such that the sensitivity to very weak signals can be substantially improved through coherent summation over long time intervals. We discuss in detail the cases of PSR 1913+16 and PSR 1534+12 and nd that the system geometry is far more promising for the latter. The observation of the highly deeected photons can provide a test of general relativity in an unprecedented strong eld regime as well as a tight constraint on the radius of the collapsed object.

Application of Markov Processes to the Machine Delays Analysis
Production and non-productive equipment and personnel delays are a critical element of any production system. The frequency and length of delays impact heavily on the production and economic efficiency of these systems. Machining processes in wood industry are particularly vulnerable to productive and non-productive delays. Whereas, traditional manufacturing industries usually operate on homoge...

متن کاملInfluence of tip-sample interaction in a time-domain terahertz scattering near field scanning microscope
Apertureless near field measurements with a metallic tip are performed in the terahertz frequency range. Lateral scans are recorded for different time delays within a terahertz pulse. The forward scattered terahertz signal strongly depends on the time delay. At larger time delays, the tip-sample interaction leads to additional structures in the scan that do not correspond to a change in topogra...

In the present study, some perturbation methods are applied to Duffing equations having a displacement time-delayed variable to study the stability of such systems. Two approaches are considered to analyze Duffing oscillator having a strong delayed variable. The homotopy perturbation method is applied through the frequency analysis and nonlinear frequency is formulated as a function of all the ...

This paper considers the problem of achieving attitude consensus in spacecraft formations with bounded, time-varying communication delays between spacecraft connected as specified by a strongly connected topology. A state feedback controller is proposed and investigated using a time domain approach (via LMIs) and a frequency domain approach (via the small-gain theorem) to obtain delay dependent...
